Landon School, an independent day school for boys (grades 3–12) in Bethesda, Maryland, seeks a Director of Annual Giving for the 2017–18 school year to successfully implement the Landon School Annual Fund for alumni, current parents, parents of alumni, grandparents, and friends, and raise annual unrestricted financial support for the school. Landon's mission is to prepare talented boys for productive lives as accomplished, responsible and caring men whose actions are guided by the principles of perseverance, teamwork, honor and fair play.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop multi-year giving strategic and operations plans
* With the Headmaster and Finance Office, develop a dollar goal for each constituency of the annual fund in line with plan
* Supervise and synchronize the timely distribution of all solicitation materials through all communications channels to all constituencies
* Oversee any phonathon or other structured gift solicitation programs
* Recruit and manage volunteer leadership to ensure proper communication and necessary support and follow up
* Work with Development office staff to ensure that all annual fund gifts are acknowledged in a timely and accurate fashion and appropriately recorded in database
* Make recommendations for movement of assigned donors to major gift tracking
* Pursue professional development opportunities as appropriate to remain current with best practices
* Support School and its leadership by embracing and supporting the Landon Mission/Philosophy, core values, and all School policies and procedures
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development or the Head of School


* A bachelor’s degree plus 5-7 years of work experience with fundraising and donor relations, ideally in a school setting
* Experience with Raisers Edge/other fundraising software program and other technology such as MS Office suite
* Demonstrated success in gift cultivation and solicitation
* Strong administrative/leadership experience; record of success in managing and working collaboratively and productively with team of volunteers
* Solutions-oriented, industrious, passionate about achieving results
* Skillful communicator – in both writing and speech
* High degree of integrity, discretion, and trustworthiness
* Proficient, organized, detail-oriented and capable manager
* Professional demeanor and presentation
* Able and willing to work a flexible full-time schedule, including evenings and weekends
