Job Summary:
The Medical Billing Manager is responsible for managing accurate, timely completion and submission of all the billing, collections, and accounts receivable functions of the organization. Responsible for the management of Billing Department, which includes data entry, reconciliation, reports, authorizations, electronic billing, and collections.

Essential Functions:
➫ Ensures reimbursement through efficient billing and collections operations and effective accounts receivable management.
• Ensures that billing and patient accounts record systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of payer contracts and ensures that payers are billed according to contract provisions.
• Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of government billing regulations including Commercial Insurance Payers and Workers' Compensation regulations and serves as a resource for appropriate organization personnel.
• Monitors aged accounts receivables and resubmits bills to overdue accounts, submits seriously overdue accounts to collection agencies for collection, and prepares bad debt.
➫ Gathers, collates, and reports key billing information to the CFO.
• Works closely with the CFO regarding accounts receivable, monthly billing and analysis, and cash flow issues.
• Maintains the following monthly reports: Account Aging, Transactions for a period, Register for a period, utilization Report, and Write-offs.
➫ Collaborates with the CFO in successfully reconciling the billing system reports with the general ledger.
• Supervises the use of the billing information system and maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of the system including upgrades and enhancements.
• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patients, family members, payers and referral sources.
• Protects the confidentiality of patient and organization information through effective controls and direct supervision of billing operations.
• Periodically reviews the effectiveness of billing processes and makes recommendations for improvement.
• Maintains files on provider license for billing.
• Keeps in contact with Medical staff and providers so that the correct information is submitted for billing, keep them informed of any changes.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Attends seminars and in-services as required to remain current on coding issues
• Maintains all mandatory in-services
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
➫ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
➫ Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification preferred.
➫ At least five years of experience in a patient accounting environment. Healthcare billing and collections management.
➫ Billing information systems knowledge required.
➫ Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct personnel. Exhibits leadership, group cohesion and communication skills promoting teamwork and group achievement.
➫ Requires strong analytical and organizational skills to prepare and maintain various documentation/reports, resolve patient account issues and monitor activities of staff.
➫ Demonstrates strong working knowledge of patient account processes, third party payer procedures.
➫ Knowledge of state, federal regulations and Joint Commission standards.
➫ Demonstrates good communication, negotiation, and public relations skills.
➫ Demonstrated capability to accurately manage detailed information.
➫ Able to deal tactfully with patients, family members, referral sources and payers.
➫ Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
➫ Experience with EMR billing and collections, and non-EMR billing and collection.
➫ Experience with Microsoft Office (word, excel, powerpoint, outlook), etc.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
